Our History

Bowen’s FX Therapeutics was founded by Jeff Parr, inspired by his grandson Bowen Parr’s diagnosis with Fragile X Syndrome, a condition most commonly caused by full mutation (>200 CGG repeats) upstream of the FMR1 gene in the X chromosome, resulting in loss of the Fragile X Messenger Ribonucleoprotein (FMRP). Faced with the profound impact of this diagnosis, Jeff’s determination grew to not only support Bowen but also to drive forward the search for a cure. Bowen’s FX Therapeutics was born out of this commitment, dedicated to advancing research, raising awareness, and fostering hope for a future where Fragile X Syndrome is a challenge of the past.
